Biggest Ever?

Based upon the number of people who are expected to attend, our biggest event/venue yet is upcoming on Friday, April 12, 2024 at Oyster City Brewery in College Town - downtown Tallahassee.

My son's favorite word is 'perspective'. From one perspective, we are headed directly towards playing our biggest event as we venture out beyond the protection of Havana. Outside of Havana (and mostly 'Off the Rails Irish Pub'), nobody has really heard us play. Now we are at a large bar and we have friends coming from all over Florida to hear us perform and, well, drink beer. Now that I think of it, I could have the last sentence in the wrong order. From another perspective, we are playing at a small brewery / college bar in the small town of Tallahassee. Nothing to get stressed about, right? Oh, but we are. In order to play here, we need three hours of songs. That roughly equates to 30 songs. Do you know how difficult it is to play 30 songs well, when the band has only being playing together for less than a year? I can assure you that it isn't easy. In addition to just learning the music, we are discovering that our sound board is extremely temperamental. Lots of feedback in various situations. Who knew that 'sound' was so difficult to get right?

So as I write this, I'm more than a little stressed (and yes - excited) about our upcoming performance. Last week's practice, while very productive, showed that we, as a band, are still 'pretty rough around the edges'. We are still struggling with song structures and timing. Pretty much what you would expect from a new band. Of course, I know, that no matter HOW we play and even when we screw up, all of our friends and family are going to tell us that we did great. That's what friends and family do! And I also know that getting an opportunity in this lifetime to perform live music, on a stage, in front of hundreds of people is a blessing and that we should just really concentrate on having fun.

So wish us luck! No turning back now. I'll be back in a couple of weeks to let you know how we did.
